The Delta Rural Foundation (TDRF) is a non-profit organisation based in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria, with a focus on promoting sustainable rural development, advancing human rights, and empowering local communities. TDRF was established in 2019 as a response to the various developmental challenges facing rural communities in the Niger Delta, including poverty, environmental degradation, poor access to basic social services, and human rights abuses.

At TDRF, our mission is to improve the livelihoods of rural communities by building their resilience, protecting their rights, and enhancing their access to basic social services. We achieve this through a range of community-driven intervention programs and activities, including education, research, community organising, environmental justice, capacity building, and advocacy. Here, we believe in sustainable development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. We work with rural communities to promote sustainable agriculture, agribusiness, and natural resource management practices that increase their productivity, income, and food security.

Our work includes working with communities to promote environmental justice, advocate for environmental policies that protect the rights of rural communities, and provide technical assistance to communities affected by environmental degradation arising from oil exploration, gas flaring, and other extractive activities.

Finally, we recognise the importance of empowering youth and women to become agents of change in their communities. We provide training and support for developing leadership and entrepreneurial skills, facilitate access to education and training opportunities, and promote gender equality and social inclusion in all our programs.
