The Enduring Voices Foundation (EVF) was founded in 15th January 2009, by Prof. Humphrey Ojwang, the late Prof. Duncan Okoth Okombo and other accomplished Scholars to:

  • Bring together Indigenous communities, HRDs and other minority ‘At-Risk-Individuals’ with scholars, scientists, the academia, the donor community, the civil society, policy makers and stakeholders to champion for human rights and self-determination of Indigenous people and other minority groups in Kenya and across East Africa.
  • Facilitate socio-cultural, anthropological research and development projects in Kenya.

The Organization’s History:

The Enduring Voices Foundation (EVF) is a coalition of indigenous pastoralists’ communities that was founded in 2009, by a group of accomplished African scholars, researchers, anthropologists and academia. Incorporated in the Republic of Kenya as a Non-Governmental Organization, human rights activism, advocacy, research and legal empowerment through Capacity Building is the mainstay of EVF, underlined by principles of participation, accountability, non-discrimination, equality and legality.

VISION

EVF’s vision is to strengthen the capacity of Indigenous Communities, Human Rights Defenders (HRDs), Investigative Journalists, LGBTQ and other ‘At-Risk-Individuals’ to work effectively and to reduce their vulnerability to the risk of persecution, including by advocating for a favourable legal and policy environment in Kenya.

MISSION

EVF’s mission is to bring together indigenous communities with scholars, scientists, the academia, the donor community, the civil society, policy makers, stakeholders and activists to champion for human rights and self-determination of HRDs and other ‘At-Risk-Individuals’ through capacity building, training, advocacy, sustainable development of projects and implementation of evidence-based programmes that are contextually relevant to Kenya and sub Saharan African.
