In September 2019, a group of educated, dynamic, like-minded and long term friends who were working for a very long time in different developmental sectors of Amhara and Afar regional states of Ethiopia agreed to establish an organization for addressing the most urgent and pressing needs of the poor, vulnerable, disadvantaged and the marginalized people of Amhara and Afar Regions. For the success of their spirit, they founded/established an organization named Timret for Development and Growth Organization.

Timret for Development and Growth Organization (TDGO) is a board-led local CSO head quartered at Bati town of Oromia Special Zone of Amhara Regional State in Ethiopia. TDGO legally registered with the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Agency for Civil Society Organization in December 10, 2019 in accordance with Civil Societies Proclamation 1113/2019 article 57 (1). TDGO prime motto is capacity building and services delivery to the poor, the vulnerable, disadvantaged and marginalized people of the society living in those two regions.

All of the founding members, from their previous experiences and involvements with the different types of developmental sectors in those regions, they were cognizant of the plethora of problems plaguing the rural communities of both regions. Consequently, the TDGO focus will not only consider/involve a limited sector rather will involve in the major developmental sectors of both regions. On the time of operating developmental activities in different districts of the Amhara and Afar Regions, TDGO will carry out a range of interventions in the areas of education, health (both animal and human), livelihood support, youth & women empowerment, emergency response & preparedness, conflict resolution and peace building, good governance, human rights, etc in the agricultural, pastoral and agro-pastoral communities of Amhara and Afar Regions.
