Ugunja Development Initiative

U.D.I is a registered community based organization based in Ugunja town in Siaya County. Mission is to transform, develop capacity and contribute positively towards development through partnership.

Ugunja Development Initiative is a registered non profit community based organization found in 2016 and started its operations in 2018 February.  Its vision is to have a society that is well informed, proactive and where everyone has equal access to quality education, healthcare, food, shelter and opportunities despite their life status. While Mission is to transform, develop capacity and contribute positively towards development through partnership support of the marginalized, Orphans and vulnerable children, youths and less fortunate families.

It has the following programs.

  1. REPRODUCTIVE, MATERNAL CHILD HEALTH, AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASES.
  2. GENDER BASED VIOLENCE.
  3. ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT TO WOMEN AND YOUTHS.
  4. ORPHANS AND VULNERABLE CHILDREN’S SERVICES.
  5. ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION
  6. WATER, SANITATION AND HYGIENE.

U.D.I works through partnership with development partners both local and abroad and GOK.

Isaiah Ochieng is a young youth currently coordinating programs at Ugunja Development Initiative. I am an expert in program management having worked in different project coordinating community activities at community and county level within Nyanza region. I have also participated in trainings on programs design and prioritization to best suit the prevailing community challenges.
Isaiah Ochieng is the network champion (main point of contact) for Ugunja Development Initiative.
