I am an assistant professor in the Dept. of Geography & Environmental Systems at UMBC. Most of my current research centers on understanding the complex relationships between land tenure security, local livelihoods, and ways in which tenure security influences certain biodiversity conservation outcomes. I am engaged actively in research in Ecuador and Central America. I also co-lead a multi-sectoral and multi-disciplinary research working group on land tenure security & conservation. I earned my PhD at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and was a postdoctoral research fellow with the Land Tenure Center.
