My name is Vidya Nathaniel and I am engaged in policy development in Sri Lanka. I have worked in the policy development field for the past five years and have worked on a variety of projects relating to land issues, livelihood protection, environmental protection, economic development and constitutional reform.
While my background is in law, I understand that law is not a field that can be practised in isolation, as it is intrinsically linked to other disciplines such as economics and politics. Therefore, I have tried to employ this interdisciplinary approach in my work and want to explore these links further. I believe that legal empowerment is only possible when one has an understanding of all the surrounding issues and is able to facilitate reforms and solutions which encompasses various factors. I hope to engage with other policy makers in these fields through this network and learn from other experiences.
Lisa Cox is the network champion (main point of contact) for Verite.
