Ken Henshaw is Executive Director of We the People- Centre for Social Studies and Development, based in the Niger Delta cities of Port Harcourt and Calabar, Nigeria.
In the last 17 years, Ken has worked closely with communities in the Niger Delta especially in those communities where oil and gas have been extracted for decades with devastating environmental, health and social consequences. His engagements in these communities have mainly focused on ensuring that decades of environmental pollution are cleaned up, that the human rights of the people are respected and protected, that community livelihoods lost to pollution are restored, that public revenues work to transform peoples’ lives, and that the rising effects of climate change are mitigated
He is passionate about increasing community voice and strengthening community agency in engaging stakeholders. He organizes platforms to project community rights and voices in global conversations around climate justice and environmental remediation.

Development professional with over 12 years of experience of managing and implementing projects on
Legal literacy, Education and Rural Development. Have significant experience on working with the minorities and marginalized communities on legal empowerment. Was successful in mobilizing youth and community members; train them as para-legal volunteers and set up a citizen information centre, where people could come gain access to useful information. Developed several information, Education and communication materials on human rights, fundamental rights & duties, social welfare scheme, Right to Information Act and rules pertaining to arrest and detention. Was also invited as resource person for Right to Information for Doordarshan - A govt. own television channel.
