Ervis Çota

My name is Ervis Çota, I am 28 years old, and I am a member of the Egyptian community.  In 2012, I graduated my BA studies at Aleksander Xhuvani University in Elbasan for History and Geography.  In 2014, I graduated from my MA studies in History and Geography, Minor Profilin Citizen Education.  From 2014 to 2015, I did a 1-year internship as a teacher in an elementary school in Elbasan.  At the same time, I served as an activist at the "Youth Roma and Egyptian Movement". From 2015 to 2017 I worked as a project coordinator supported by the Open Society Foundation in Albania. Later on, in 2017, I was elected to run "YREM" organization as the executive director.  Being an activist makes me feel good. It makes me happy the fact I can contribute to making better the living conditions of my community and its integration in the broader society.  My primary purpose is boosting the self-confidence of my community and its empowerment to actively engage in advocacy processes aiming in the protection and guarantees of their rights. Also, my objective, which is of high importance to me, is the legal education of my community so they can use the law effectively as a critical instrument to guarantee their rights.  The reason why I chose to join this network is to share with you all the positive experiences on the education and legal empowerment of citizens.
