The Community Land Rights CaseBase is the first global database of legal precedent on community land and resource rights. CaseBase is a tool to help communities, lawyers, and advocates to access and share case law and craft effective legal and advocacy strategies for defending community rights to land and natural resources.
CaseBase is user-generated, built by a vibrant and widespread network of lawyers, advocates, and law student volunteers around the world. CaseBase volunteers are constantly collecting and adding cases. When we identify a relevant case, or receive a suggested case through the website, we search for the decision file in existing legal databases, national court records, or by reaching out to advocates and NGOs involved in land rights work in the region.
