Vijaya brings deep passion and experience as a campaigner, communicator and storyteller on social and gender justice issues. Previously, Vijaya was part of the leadership team for MyJustice, an access to justice program in Myanmar. In charge of Strategic Engagement, she led the campaigns & communications, MEL and advocacy portfolios of the program and conceptualized and led a public media campaign on justice in Myanmar that reached over 20 million people. Vijaya’s communications practice is deeply participatory, centering the voice and power of those whose stories are being told. Vijaya has advised programs, UN agencies, international organizations and feminist networks in south and south-east Asia, southern Africa, the middle-east and northern Africa regions. Vijaya has a Masters in Mass Communications from the Central University of Hyderabad in India and a Masters in Gender and Development Studies from the Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex, UK. Vijaya is a trained classical Indian dancer and believes balance and rhythm are equally crucial in life.
