Disrespect to the Constitutional Provision of “Presumption of Innocence” and it’s Implication to Police Public Relationship in Nigeria

This paper was presented by Saviour Akpan Esq., during the Eminent Personality Forum organized by the Ikot Ekpene Area command of the Nigeria Police and it addresses the need for Nigerian police to comply with the Constitutional “presumption of innocence” provision.

The paper’s recommendations are intended to help close the gap of antagonism between law enforcement agencies in Nigeria and open the door to a paradigm shift in the relationship between the law enforcement agencies especially the Police and the citizens they purport to serve.
