Explainer on the Disaster Management Act 2005

This publication, developed by the Centre for Heath Equity, Law & Policy in collaboration with Justice Adda, provides short, and hopefully useful explainer about the Disaster Management Act 2005, which has been a principal legislation deployed in India’s fight against COVID-19. It explains the history of the Act, the institutions set up under it, the duties it imposes on functionaries, and the role of citizens in disaster management and planning. The aim is to simplify the law, and make it more interesting and accessible to all.
