Guide to Building Local Support for Paralegal Programs

This tool offers guidance for how paralegal programs can build productive relationships with other actors, including formal system authorities, legal practitioners, and members of the local communities served. Within the formal legal system, paralegals often have to work with magistrates, the courts, the police, as well as lawyers and other legal professionals. In addition to authorities, paralegals will benefit from maintaining positive relationships with the communities they serve, gaining the legitimacy and support to arbitrate and operate effectively in informal legal settings.
