Negotiation, Mediation, & Arbitration Skills – Tips for Paralegals

This excerpt from the Namibia Paralegal Manual (2012) details the vital skills of negotiation, mediation, and arbitration for community-based paralegals.  Drawing on the experience of Namibian paralegal program and New Perimeters LLC, the tool contains the process of negotiating diagrammed step by step and advice for when negotiation, mediation, and arbitration may each be appropriate.  In addition, this tool is useful for training purposes; it includes a sample itinerary for a half-day mediation training for paralegals and tips on leading community workshops for paralegal program directors or other training facilitators.
