I graduated from Addis Ababa University Law School in 1986 and worked as judge of the High Court of Ethiopia until 1995. I won a Fulbright Scholarship and was placed at Temple University Law School, now Besley School of Law, in Philadelphia, USA. I graduated with an LL.M. I the lectured at Addis Ababa University Law School, and worked as a Head of Procedural Laws Research and Reform at the Ethiopian Justice and Legal Reform Institute. I worked as a land policy and legislative specialist with successive land projects funded by the United States of America International Development (USAID) since 2005. I was working as a consultant to UNDP in 2019 to work with the Federal Supreme Court of Ethiopia in developing a Justice Sector Strategic Plan. I tried to institutionalize legal empowerment as a major component of the justice sector when developing the Justice Sector Strategic Plan..
