I am a law student in my final year of study in Brisbane, Australia. I volunteer my time as a community organiser for a grassroots organisation that aims to empower young people to take action on climate change through advocacy and action in their local communities. I am also working on exploring avenues to effect environmental justice through my regional community legal centre, the Environmental Defender's Office. As the largest coal exporter in the world, preventing further developments in coal projects on Aboriginal land is of utmost important to me as a young person who wants to work towards climate justice. Soon I am going to be working in Borneo on legal empowerment of local and Indigenous communities and am looking to learn from the experience of Namati in conducting my research in how best to assist in that goal. I am a big believer in collaboration to achieve the best results.
