I am a Syrian National with Master of Business Administration Degree (MBA) from the University of Lorenz (Virtual University). My undergraduate study is in the field of Agriculture Engineering from the University of Aleppo, as well as a second postgraduate study in the same university, specializing in Field Crops.

I started my career in May 2004 with the General Corporation for Development of Lands, which is a government development corporation focused on agricultural land reclamation. I started working with UNHCR in Damascus since March 2007 until the present, with experience spanning over twelve years. During this time, I served in positions with increasing responsibilities over several operational units – administration, project management, protection and community service.

My assignments have demanded a broad range of transferable skills, involving the ability to work independently or in teams, multi-tasking, working with fast-changing priorities and having strong interpersonal capacity to deal with diverse ethnic, cultural and religious groups within UNHCR. In addition, my responsibilities included liaising and coordinating with external organizations such as NGOs, as well as donors and local authorities.

In my work with UNHCR, I have conducted registration interviews for over 9000 Iraqi refugees and asylum-seekers in Syria. I have also gained international working experience when I was selected for a deployment to Tunisia on an emergency mission in Jun 2011, where I conducted registration interviews and identification of vulnerable asylum-seeking populations in Camp Shousha at the Libyan-Tunisian border. During this period, I also participated in the training of 13 national Tunisian staff to conduct effective registration for mixed migration flows comprising nationalities such as Iraqi, Sudanese, Afghan, Somali, Nigerians, Algerians, Egyptians and Iranians. This experience has enhanced my skills in negotiation, conducting rapid situation analyses as well as how to carry out regular monitoring and reporting.

Moreover, I have completed training courses on international human rights law, international humanitarian law as well as on regional and legal human rights instruments, which have improved my appreciation of principles of international protection.

Aside from my qualification and experience that are in line with the advertised post, I have a keen interest to diversify and broaden my experience in an international setting and/or organizations, and broaden my experience through having communication with people from other cultures and backgrounds.
