I am the Law and Policy Coordinator at the Whistleblowing International Network (WIN) which is an international membership organisation which is the leading global centre of expertise on whistleblowing law and practice. WIN connects civil society organisations which support and protect whistleblowers all over the world. Our Members are all national non-profits which provide direct access to legal advice to whistleblowersIrelandand our Associates are all non-profits which have long standing whistleblowing protection activities such as investigation, campaigning or research. I am responsible for supporting our membership by amplyfying thier work on the ground, from advocacy to lobbying, to share learning and strengthen protections globally in order to facilitate the disclosure of public interest information on wrongdoing and risk of harm (whether that be corruption, ecological destruction, tax justice or human rights violations) as needed for law enforcement, democratic accountabliity and to uphold freedom of expression rights and the public's right to know. We run an online expert group where our practitioners regularly share information on updates on developments in whistleblowing law and on cases. Our website hosts a Resources Library on whistleblowing with laws, cases, studies and other important publications which address the issue of whistleblowing from various perspectives. We also host a whistleblowing events calender, news and spotlight on whistleblowing issues feature and a podcast. We regularly respond to consultation on reforms to whistleblowing protection frameworks and publish guides on implementing functional and responsible legal and institutional systems which effectively protect whistleblowers who speak up to protect the public interest. We were involved with the campaign for a groundbreaking EU Directive on Whistleblowing and now with the campaign for it's effective transposition into 27 EU member states - including hosting the EU Whistleblowing Monitor which allows for citizen engagement to hold thier governments accountablity for taking thier responsibilities vis-a-vis whistleblowing seriously. We also were involved with the development of the ISO on whistleblowing management systems. We are developing an advocacy program to support whistleblowers in cases which have international reach.
