I am Lempaira Desmon I come from Kenya from the indigenous community the Maasai. I hold a bachelor's degree in Arts, major in Sociology, and Communication from the University of Nairobi. Currently, I work at IMPACT Trust as a program officer under Community Land Protection. IMPACT is a nongovernmental organization based in the northern part of Kenya, IMPACT exists to build, support, and strengthen grassroots social movements. Our mission as an organization is to address deep underlying causes social exclusion, discrimination, marginalization, and poverty that is undermining the indigenous people’s rights to livelihoods, a healthy environment, and social-cultural rights. I have extensively been involved in advocacy campaigns on human rights issues ie the Ewaso Nyiro Camen Caravan that aims at restoration of the Ewaso Nyiro River Ecosystem being the main source of water for the pastoralist communities living downstream, water volumes have been decreasing over the years due to illegal obstruction of water upstream by the flower farms and the farming communities. I have been working with the pastoralist communities living in northern Kenya in securing their land tenure. Joining the network is an honor it will help me to expand my know-how as far as land issues and other human rights aspects are concerned. It will be a knowledge sharing and learning platform for me.
