Professor David McQuoid-Masonis a Professor of Law based at the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban and is President of the Commonwealth Legal Education Association. He has facilitated in numerous training, curriculum and materials development workshops on legal literacy, law clinics and paralegal programmes in over 60 countries on all the continents except Antarctica. He has helped to draft legal aid legislation for four countries a has advised on improving of legal aid schemes in numerous others. He has delivered over 150 papers at national and over 200 at international conferences, and has published more than 200 articles in law and medical journals. He has contributed more than 70 chapters to books, and co-authored 14 books. He has received a Special Mention from UNESCO for his work in human rights education and Honorary Doctorates from universities in Canada (Windsor, Ontario) and the UK (Northumbria) for his world-wide justice work.
