I have more than 10+ years’ experience working with NGOs, INGOs and the public sector in Papua New Guinea managing and coordinating projects and programs funded both by international as well as national NGOs; contributing to the strategic outcomes of the community impact projects, education and Health, HIV and program governance. As a project manager, I have provided senior level leadership and management across the programs and projects I have managed over the last nine and half years. The program and project management positions I was engaged in involved providing adaptive leadership and management in the technical and complex area of project management functional expertise, focused primarily on gender equality, including motivating and leading a team comprising of 5 to 40 members, project planning, development and management, representation, budget monitoring, donor funding management and governance, financial accountability and administrative and HR management. From the above reflections I am still lacking the financial, budgeting and accounting knowledge and skill to complement my role for the effective delivery of quality program intervention to the beneficiaries and stakeholders and most importantly developing budget, analysis budgets and expenditure, monitoring and keeping track of the finance and budgets of the program.
