The Democracy Education Center (DEMO) is a Mongolian non-governmental organization. DEMO’s mission is to promote democracy and strengthen civil society in Mongolia. The main activity programs of DEMO are Social Accountability, NGOs’ Capacity Building and Volunteering. DEMO’s some accomplishments:

• Conducted 366 training seminars on NGO management, volunteering and social accountability covering 6,419 participants
• Operating a NGO Mailing list with over 1,000 NGOs listed through which are circulating all information of Mongolian NGO sector.
• Conducted four types of research and survey on NGO sector in Mongolia
• Developed and published 16 books and brochures on NGO issues
• Initiated and implemented the project on “NGO Code of Conduct for Mongolian NGOs”
• As a result of our advocacy efforts, the January 31^st has been recognized as the national Civil Society Day.
• DEMO was also instrumental in the establishment of Mongolia’s first Civil Society Council on 1^st February 2008. The Council represents the common goals of over 100 NGOs, trade unions, civic and human rights movements (known as CSOs) and its aim is to liaise between the Mongolian government and CSOs, and to co-ordinate the activities of CSOs. The Council signed the first ever Cooperation Agreement with the government of Mongolia on March 26, 2008.
• Since 2012 started the implementation of series of Check My Service initiatives. Since its start and to date, DEMO has implemented series of this initiative such as Check My Kindergarten, Check My School, Check My Hospital, Check My Water Well, and others. Check My Service initiative was selected by the Open Government Partnership (OGP) as one of the best Asia Pacific regional innovations in 2014 and 2016, and received an OGP Global Award in 2016.
