The Foundation works with indigenous communities on the Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua, on contributing to access to justice, sustainable development on their natural resources with identity.

The purpose of the foundation is to defend the rights of the inhabitants of the Atlantic coast
of Nicaragua for free and promote the sustainable integral development of the population
Multiethnic and its environment with the support of all sectors of society.
a) Advise, represent and defend the inhabitants of scarce economic resources in all
Legal matters for free.
b) promote respect for the human rights of the poor majority and indigenous peoples
and afro descendants, trying to obtain or achieve in all the programs that are undertaken
by the foundation, the active participation of the beneficiaries as well as other sectors of the
population and elaborate, promote, develop and execute programs that lead to a benefit
and strengthen knowledge about their rights and duties to man, family and society.
c) Participation in associations that have similar purposes.
d) Train and advise legally and technically free of charge to the communities for the
Administration, protection, renewal and rational exploitation of natural resources.
e) Defend in the judgments of any nature the people they need for free.

The strategic lines of the foundation are:
1. Strengthen the capacities of territorial governments / Indigenous and ethnic communities to
improve its political, social and environmental management.
2. Accompany access to justice of territorial, communal and other leaders of scarce
economic resources and influence the public institutions and rights mechanisms
international organizations to promote the collective rights of Indigenous Peoples and
ethnic communities.
3.Promote gender equality and nonviolence against women by promoting processes of
sensitization and training to indigenous and ethnic women. Increase the participation of
women in decision-making in public spaces at the communal, territorial and
municipal, as well as the economic independence of women.

I am an indigenous lawyer of the Miskitu People. In my organization I support in coordinating the execution of projects within the beneficiary indigenous communities. I hold planning, monitoring and evaluation meetings.

Added to this the Egdolina Thomas Foundation, has a legal area in which I am responsible and provide legal advice, elaborate and lodge complaints and accompaniment to victims and / or relatives of indigenous communities on violations of collective human rights of the peoples Indigenous, before the national mechanisms (National Police, Public Ministry, General Procurator of the Republic, Army of Nicaragua).
