Prison Inmate Development Initiative (PIDI), came into existence in 2012, as a result of comprehensive studies and capacity building of minority groups who perpetually suffer violations, discrimination, Stigmatisation and are desirous of change in the Criminal Justice sector. In furthering its objectives, the organization engaged deeply in Socio Economic Empowerment, Monitoring and Evaluations of human rights violations and abuses most especially in the prisons and Detention centers where access to justice are not given to Prisoners, Detainees and as well as ex-prisoners or those that came in conflict with the Criminal Justice System (CJS).

Vision:
To restore dignity for the marginalized and discriminated persons, enabling them face the future with hope.

Mission:
Is to create a society where all human families have true equal rights and opportunities by making justice accessible for the downtrodden minorities, provide humanitarian aid and leverage to victims that come in conflict with the Criminal Justice System.


The organization has over fifty members and volunteers. Membership and participation in the association is been open to:
Youths, Men and Women irrespective of Gender, Races, Ethnic and Religious background; provided they are members of the human families and law abiding citizens.

• Mbami Iliya Sabka: President /Founder of Prison Inmates Development Initiative (PIDI).

Mbami is a passionate paralegal and local human right activist in Bauchi State of Nigeria. after undergoing several courses in social work and developments. He basically work on human rights related issues by monitoring and documenting human rights abuses on Sexual minorities rights, political killings, torture, ill treatment, sexual violence and abuses against prisoners and ex-offenders in the society. As a founder of the organization, he experienced series denial of justice, stigmatization and discrimination while he was advocating for social inclusion as social worker. Because of his interest in equality he has keen more interest in defending a rights of most vulnerable group where he collaborates with both National and International human rights organizations to strive at change from penal institutions through viable alternatives to vulnerable groups on creating awareness for effective and efficient crime management.
