Society for the Improvement of Rural People (SIRP) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Enugu State, Nigeria. SIRP was founded in the year 1988 by Dr Chris N. Ugwu. SIRP works to address the various challenges facing various vulnerable groups like youth, women, children, and the disabled here in Nigeria.

Our vision statement is “To be a Civil Society Organizational Role-Model in providing voice and services to the less privileged and vulnerable segments of the society”. While our mission statement is “To promote quality service delivery that would improve the living conditions of the people, while ensuring true leadership, accountability and good governance”.

SIRP currently works in the following areas namely: legal empowerment, gender equality, poverty alleviation, education, health, gender based violence and good governance.
