Ubuntu Legal Advice and Development (ULADEC) is a Community Based Advice Office (CAO) based within the Maluti-a-Phofung Local Municipality in the Eastern Free State Province (SA). We are a human rights and community development organisation, which strives to promote and protect the basic rights of the poor and most vulnerable in society. The organization ensures access to justice through free basic legal advice and information sharing, court preparation, consultation, mediation and conflict resolution. We also assist the community with other related services such as access to social grants, social relief of distress (SrD), child maintenance, identity documentation, labour matters, consumer rights,the rights and wellbeing of marginilized farm dwellers. Furthermore, we provide basic human rights training and capacity building workshops to community groups, including schools, churches and other NGO`s / NPO`s, while we also respond to disaster and emergency situations within the country. The organisation is currently managed by an Executive Management Committee, voluntary staff and an Advisory Board which oversees the overall governance of the organisation.
