Wahana Lingkungan Hidup Indonesia (WALHI) Riau member Friend of the Earth Indonesia is a civil society group forum that was established as a response to concerns about unfairness in the management and distribution of natural resources that should be fulfilled by the state as a guarantee for the fulfillment of human rights for the livelihoods of the people in Riau Province. The domination of investment in natural resources has far brought prosperity to farmers, indigenous peoples and communities who depend on natural sustainability. This domination has even resulted in an ecological disaster, neglect of human values ​​and the destruction of the socio-cultural order. This organization is present as a forum in the form of a non-governmental organization with a focus on conducting advocacy work on the environment and human rights. With 10 Non Government Organizations as Member Institutions. Meanwhile, WALHI Riau’s current vision is “Building a Civil Society Movement Capable of Encouraging Natural Resources Management Based onLocal Wisdom and Sustainable.”
