BRAC honored for ‘Visionary Leadership in Advancing the Rule of Law’

The World Justice Project recently honored BRAC and Dr. Shirin Ebadi with this year’s WJP Rule of Law Award. The organization was recognized for “scaling innovative education, legal empowerment, and poverty alleviation programs to more than 120 million people across 11 countries.”  BRAC’s legal aid program in Bangladesh is the largest in the world, with legal aid centers now outnumbering police stations in the country.  Dr. Faustina Pereira, Director of BRAC’s Human Rights and Legal Aid Services division and a member of Namati’s Network Guidance Committee, accepted the award on behalf of the organization. BRAC’s founder, Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, is a member of the Global Legal Empowerment Initiative’s International Advisory Council.
