Paralegals at the Forefront of Land and Gender Issues in Mozambique

YouTube player

This video presents an overview of the gender issues in Mozambique and the major challenges faced by rural women when it comes to access land and natural resources. Through interviews with stakeholders — from the Minister of Justice to the paralegals and peasants in rural areas — the documentary highlights the efforts that have been made to overcome the challenges and promote a more gender equitable access to land and natural resources. The Paralegal Training Programme implemented by the Juridical and Judicial Training Centre (CFJJ) of the Ministry of Justice with FAO’s support is a practical example of such efforts. It underlines the commitment of both partners in the promotion of legal empowerment of rural people, as a key element in the promotion of social justice, gender equality and economic development that will benefit not just men or women, but the whole society.
