Regional Consultation on Sustainable Development Goals, Access to Justice and Legal Aid

The ASEAN Regional Consultation on Sustainable Development Goals, Access to Justice and Legal Aid was held in Jakarta on 26-27 May 2016, organized by the Indonesian National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), the Indonesian National Law Development Agency of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (BPHN), and the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) with the support of the Open Society Foundations (OSF), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Namati, the Global Legal Empowerment Network and the International Development Law Organization (IDLO).

The Consultation brought together representatives of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Secretariat and ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR), members of the Open Government Partnership (OGP), ASEAN Member State government representatives, bar associations, civil society leaders and international experts to discuss needs, strategies and activities for strengthening access to justice in the ASEAN region. This report gives an overview of the meeting and the final outcome document ‘Jakarta Recommendations on Sustainable Development Goals, Access to Justice and Legal Aid in ASEAN’.
