‘Best Practice’ Options for the Legal Recognition of Customary Tenure

This article explores the possibility of a “model” for the legal recognition of customary land tenure, with reference to cases in Africa, Papua New Guinea, and the South Pacific. The author suggests tenure insecurity should determine the nature of legal interventions.
