Counterview: “Industrial projects operating without environmental clearances to be legalised?

On March 14, 2017, India’s Environment Ministry released a revised final notification that will allow any project, even those who have been illegally operating, to apply for Environmental Clearances (EC). The notification would provide amnesty for actions such as illegal land grabs and environmental regulation violations and limit a community’s ability to hold businesses and those in power accountable.
