Wuhan University Public Interest and Development Law Institute (PIDLI) is pleased to announce a call for applications for the upcoming regional conference – Justice for All: Legal Empowerment Area Dialogue.
Around the globe, legal empowerment has been adopted as a crucial approach by practitioners who devote to enhancement of people’s power and realization of human rights. Innovative legal empowerment activities have been taking place and spreading all over the world to help grassroots communities voice their needs and to work with them to actively participate into processes at all levels which may have significant impact on their lives by making use of law and legal services.
Having borne in mind the international development of legal empowerment, PIDLI, together with other partner organizations, have been making efforts in this field by promoting the notion of legal empowerment in order to enhance the public awareness and at the same time applying the notion in China so as to develop our contextualized strategies and contribute to the international dialogue. PIDLI is therefore bringing together legal empowerment researchers and practitioners from home and abroad to share their experience.
The conference will take place December 17th-18th, 2012 in Wuhan, China. The working language is Chinese, though simultaneous English translation may be provided.
PIDLI will cover domestic travel expenses, meals, and accommodation for conference participants; however, due to limited funds, PIDLI is not able to cover international airfare for participants traveling from outside of China.
