Free Legal Advice in the United States – Does it work?

The United States legal aid system faces limited funding, particularly in the face of increasing demand for legal services.  However, despite the noble goal of free legal aid, little is known about its true impact on recipients.  James Grenier of Harvard Law School has set out to answer this question: using randomized control trials to test the effectiveness of these clinics to ultimately improve their clients’ circumstances, Grenier hopes to improve the field through evidence-based recommendations.
