Event Description
This is an extraordinary opportunity to shape the post-2015 development agenda by contributing viewpoints, experiences and perspectives that reflect the realities of people’s lives and related development priorities from across the world. The outcome of the consultation will feed into a process culminating in the establishment—in a participatory and transparent manner—of a new development agenda in the post-MDGs era.
With the 2015 MDGs deadline fast approaching, the UN Secretary-General has outlined a UN-led process to determine the post-2015 development framework. To contribute to the UN system-wide effort, the UN Development Group has been tasked with the responsibility of holding national consultations in 100 countries and to hold eleven global thematic consultations on key issues pertaining to the post-2015 development framework.
On behalf of the United Nations Development Group (UNDG), UNDP and OHCHR would like to announce that the Final Meeting of the Global Thematic Consultation on Governance and the Post-2015 Development Framework will take place on 27 and 28 February 2013 in Johannesburg, South Africa. The consultation aims to build a shared vision and ownership of how global, regional, national and sub-national governance and accountability should be integrated within the intergovernmental process to inform on the post-2015 development agenda, including discussing a menu of options for integration.
The meeting is sponsored by UNDP and OHCHR, with the support of the Government of Germany.
