Indonesian NGOs Call for Justice in the MDGs

The leaders of the grassroots justice movement in Indonesia have written to the five main political parties in the People’s Representative Council calling on them to support the inclusion of justice targets in the next set of development goals. The open letter draws attention to the inclusion of human rights and governance in the report of the Secretary General’s High Level Panel of Eminent Persons (HLP). One of the leaders of the HLP was Indonesia’s President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, whose term in office ends with Indonesia’s elections in April 2014. Activists in Indonesia are keen to ensure that Indonesia’s support for justice targets continues after the election.
