‘Is it time to enshrine land rights in sub-Saharan Africa into law?’

According to Steven Lawry of DAI, “Sub-Saharan Africa’s plurality of tenure systems– customary, freehold title, and public– should enjoy equal recognition before the law” to promote equitable development and provide economic and social security to vulnerable communities.  Lawry calls on governments to recognize these systems, and work to incorporate them into state laws and policies.
