Kenyan NGOs press their government to support justice targets in the new MDGs

A coalition of legal empowerment groups has written to the Government of Kenya encouraging it to support the inclusion of justice targets in the new development framework that will replace the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The open letter calls on the Kenyan Government to support targets for legal participation, identity, access to information, and redress. Kenya is co-chair of the Open Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals – the group of countries at the United Nations drafting a report on the goals and targets that should replace the MDGs.  The letter is the initiative of PASUNE, Kenya’s Paralegal Support Network, and several members of the Global Legal Empowerment Network. Copies were sent to the State Law Office, the Ministry of Devolution and Planning and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
