“Token Ombudsman?”

Communities affected by thermal power plants in Mundra block, Kutch district (Gujarat-India) have engaged with various fora to raise complaints against social and environmental violations of these projects in the area. One such attempt has been to strongly push the Compliance Advisor Ombudsman (CAO) process of the World Bank to respond to the violations of the Coastal Power Gujarat India Ltd (CPGIL)’s thermal power project, Kanchi Kohli reports.
