Women, Debt, and Detention: An Exploratory Report on Fraudulent Conversion and the Criminilisation of Debt in Sierra Leone

AdvocAid, a Sierra Leonean NGO, has just released a report entitled “Women, Debt, and Detention: An Exploratory Report on Fraudulent Conversion and the Criminilisation of Debt in Sierra Leone.”  The report considers underlying issues in Sierra Leone’s justice system in order to understand the criminalization of debt.  Specifically, the report explores the impacts of this practice on women, and makes recommendations for ending the criminalization of debt.
