Fatmata Fouard-Kanu worked as a paralegal and lead paralegal at the Access to Justice Law center from 2007 to 2013. In 2014, she joined Namati as a Legal Empowerment Advocate in the Northern Province of Sierra Leone.
She holds a BA in Development Studies from the University of Makeni. She also has a diploma in Psycho-Social Work from the University of Sierra Leone’s Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM), as well as a Higher Teacher’s Certificate from the Milton Margai College of Education and Technology.
